The Origin: From Jávea

Alkkemist Vodka is produced in Jávea, a paradise on the Mediterranean coast of Spain with a unique microclimate and ideal atmospheric pressure that create the perfect conditions for distillation. The vision behind the brand is to break the traditional mould, honouring and approaching tradition with respect.

The Production Process

Alkkemist Vodka is produced in traditional copper stills, through four distillations that preserve its personality.

• 1st & 2nd Distillation: From select European grain seeds, for a refined base.
• 3rd Distillation: 24-hour macro-fermentation and 72-hour rest with thyme, rosemary, coriander, and black olives, giving it a rich flavor and silky texture.
• 4th Distillation: 12-hour long fermentation with bergamot and lemon peel, for a fruity and refreshing note.

It is then gently heated in a bain-marie, adjusted to 40% alcohol by volume with pure spring water from the mountains of Mediterranean Spain, and finally filtered with activated carbon. The result? A pure, smooth, and balanced vodka, without additives, combining nature and science.

The Alkkemist bottle is a work of art: transparent glass, clean and minimalist, with an organic-shaped cap reminiscent of a stone carved by the sea. Every detail reflects Mediterranean inspiration, making the drink not only delicious but also visually appealing.

With two traditional copper stills (Christoir 1000lt and Broc 800lt), natural fermentation, and barrels of unique origin, Killowen creates whiskey and spirits without filters or artificial smoothing. (It stands out for its manual production, experimental approach, and absolute commitment to authenticity. Its philosophy is based on “the way it used to be”, i.e. reviving traditional Irish distillation techniques, but with a modern spirit of experimentation).

Killowen uses open-top fermenters, which allow wild yeasts from the environment to enter. Fermentation lasts 5-10 days, which is unusually long for most distilleries, allowing for deeper development of aromas and esters.

Second distillation is slow and controlled by hand, while condensation takes place in worm tubs, giving the distillate a fuller and more oily profile.

On Monday, January 27th, at Technopolis City of Athens, Greek and international representatives from 30 wineries presented their wines, offering visitors a unique opportunity to taste exquisite wines and meet the creators behind them. Discussions about their experience and expertise in the wine industry added significant value to the event, creating an environment of knowledge and exchange of ideas.

On Wednesday, January 29th, the journey of wine and spirits continued in Thessaloniki at the Makedonia Palace Hotel, where the 2nd Oenocosmos Wine & Spirits Fair impressed with its impeccable organization and the variety of wines and spirits showcased.

The masterclasses held alongside the main fairs were particularly noteworthy. Domaine Henri Bourgeois and Maison Louis Jadot in Athens, as well as Domaine Henri Bourgeois and Domäne Wachau in Thessaloniki, presented rare vintages and exceptional labels to the Greek audience for the first time through their representatives.
