Oenocosmos Wine & Spirits Fair: New World Wines in the Spotlight

As part of the Oenocosmos Wine & Spirits Fair 2026, the FNL Guide presented a distinctive selection of wines from the so-called “New World,” showcasing wineries operating outside the traditional European wine scene.

This presentation underscores the growing influence of wines from regions such as New Zealand, South Africa, and California. New World producers often stand out for their more outgoing wine styles, intense fruit expression, and an approach that combines modern winemaking techniques with a strong sense of identity.

At the same time, many of these wines offer excellent value for money, attracting strong interest from both industry professionals and wine enthusiasts alike.

Selected White Wines

Among the white wines highlighted by the FNL Guide are three labels from different New World wine regions:

  • Spy Valley Riesling 2019 – Marlborough, New Zealand
  • Zumbali Chenin Blanc 2022 – Western Cape, South Africa
  • Fairview Back’s Blend White 2024 – Paarl, South Africa

These labels exemplify the fresh, fruity character often associated with whites from these regions, offering clear aromatic intensity and balanced acidity.

Selected Red Wines

In the red wine category, the selection includes three highly acclaimed labels from California:

  • No Bull Cabernet Sauvignon – California, USA
  • Kosta Browne Russian River Pinot Noir 2021 – California, USA
  • Shafer Vineyards Relentless 2019 – Stags Leap District, Napa Valley

These wines highlight the complexity and power that Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Syrah can achieve in California’s top terroirs.
